The historic Benson Hotel in the heart of downtown Portland, OR offers a historic and luxurious photography setting for weddings and engaged couples. For this engagement session, the couple envisioned a trendy, moody, and romantic essence.
I had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session for Cynthia and Cristian, a couple who I began photographing a few years back to now their engagement and soon to be wedding day. Their flirty and romantic connection is always fun to photograph however this time, we incorporated a more editorial touch.
The Photography Session: We explored various spots inside The Benson Hotel, utilizing its timeless charm as the backdrop for the engagement session. The lobby offers great natural lighting, a charming fireplace, a long staircase to the second floor, and an empty bar area before the restaurant opens. The outdoor entrance of the hotel is a great area to utilize for photos once the indoor session ends. It’s a great way to add natural light photography into the mix while still incorporating the hotel’s luxury essence. The vibrant atmosphere and bustling city life right outside the hotel provided a dynamic backdrop for capturing the couple’s memorable moments.
